So the difference between the iphone 3g and 3gS is that the iphone 3gs has a digital compass, voice control, 3mpg camera with auto focus, video recording, better improved oil resistant glass protector on the touch screen, faster procesor and more storage space (16gb, 32g). And the difference between the 3g is that it doesnt have voice control, digital compas, better oil resistant touch screen, and it isnt as fast as the 3GS

The iPhone 3GS is faster as you said and now has the ability to record and edit videos and a better camera with auto focus. It also has voice controls so for example you can just say call (then the number) and you will call the person. It has a compass built in. This is useful in Google Maps because you are now able to see what direction you are facing.

The biggest difference is the speed. And other things like the camera, voice control, and able to tell which direction iphone is facing for google maps and the compass app.

The performance of the iphone 3g s is much better that the iphone 3g. The previous iphone had a 412MHz processor and the 3g s has a 600MHz processor. The previous iPhone had 128MB of RAM (this is the ram for the Performance aspect of the iPhone not the storage capacity) while the 3g s has 256. The iPhone 3g s has the new PowerVR SGX graphics chip that supports open GLES 2.0 which has a really advanced shader engine. This graphic processing unit is very powerful and will be able to give app developers the ability to take graphics in games to the next level. The iPhone 3g s will also be able to support At&t HSDPA network (4g) which will reach speeds of 7.2 mbps. The processor and ram increase will allow the iphone 3g s to run an average of 2 times faster, but will run things like java script about 3 times faster making web browsing faster and able to load and store more content.

The camera on the iPhone 3g s is not 3 megapixel in stead of 2. and has auto focusing and very high quality video recording capability. just search iphone 3gs camera demo on you tube and you will se what i am talking about. and lets not forget to mention video editing

The new iphone has abillity to tell which way is north through RF waves and they added a Ak8973 chip to pick this up, with the cabability apple added the compass app and google maps will turn the map to face the same direction as you do.

Battery life is improved also, talk time is increased by two hours over 2g data, but the 3g talk time remains the same on both phones of 5 hours. internet is boosted by 3 hours over wifi, audio play back goes from 24 to 30 hours, and video playback form 7 hours to 10 hours.

New iPhone also has voice command!

Yes, there is a difference between the iphone 3G and the 3GS:

A. The 3GS has a 3.2 megapexial camera where you can tap the screen to auto facous the subject. The 3G does have a 2 megapexial camera only.

B) The 3GS has a video camera while the 3G does not.

C) The 3GS has a vocie control where you can tell you phone to call a person or listen to a song, artist, find out the name of song, album or artist. The 3G can dowload vocie apps but not a good as the one the 3GS comes with.

D) The 3GS comes with a compass and makes google maps trun direction for you unstead of having to scroll the map like on the 3G.

Price: $99 for 3G in 8gb black only
$199 for b/w 16gb 3GS, or $299 b/w 32GB

Both come with the 3.0 softwhere.

The 3G S is slightly faster (I do notice a speed difference on mine, plus it will allow more intense apps in the future), has a better camera (still no flash ), can record video, has a anti-smudge coat on the screen (in my experience it is slightly less prone to fingerprints, but not much), voice control, compass, will have MMS (video/sound texting) in the future (it has it already, but it won’t work until AT&T adds it on their end), and more space (since the 3G now only comes in 8GB).

It has a faster processor, double the RAM, a compass, video recording + editing, a 3mp camera, and voice control. It is a LOT faster, and I would HIGHLY recommend it over the 3G
